Description

Surface Primer for Models and Miniatures – Professional Acrylic Base

Every masterpiece begins with the perfect foundation. Our Surface Primer is a high-performance waterborne coating designed specifically for the discerning hobbyist. This Surface Primer features low VOC and is formulated from alkali-resistant acrylic polymers. Consequently, it ensures high penetration into porous substrates, reducing the number of paint coats needed while providing a smooth, consistent base for your top acrylic paints. If you want your colors to truly pop, starting with a professional-grade base is essential.

What is Surface Primer?

A Surface Primer is more than just a base coat; it is a bonding agent that prepares your model or miniature for the painting process. Whether you are working on a 3D printed resin figure or a classic metal kit, our primer creates a homogenous film of extraordinary strength. In Egypt’s varied climate, using a reliable Surface Primer ensures your hard work doesn’t chip or peel over time.

Key Features

  • Detail Preservation: Specifically engineered to preserve even the smallest etched details on high-fidelity models (Sharp results).
  • Multi-Surface Adhesion: Works flawlessly on resin, PVC, brass, white metal, and wood (Versatile application).
  • Fast Drying: Forms a resistant, homogenous film within just a few hours (Saves time).
  • Eco-Friendly Formula: Non-flammable and solvent-free with low VOC for safe indoor use (Health-conscious).

How to Apply Surface Primer

Brush Application

For small miniatures, you can use our Surface Primer directly with a soft-bristle brush. We recommend applying several thin layers rather than one thick coat to avoid obscuring fine details.

Airbrushing Guide

To use with an airbrush, dilute the primer with POP ART Airbrush Thinner to improve flow. Set your compressor between 15-20 PSI (0.5 to 1 kg) for the smoot most even coverage. For best results, always clean your equipment after use with POP ART Airbrush Cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I apply this Surface Primer to metal parts?
A: Yes! It provides excellent adherence to brass and white metal, preventing paint from rubbing off during handling.

Q: How long should I wait before painting over the primer?
A: While it dries rapidly to the touch, we recommend waiting 1-2 hours for the primer to fully cure for maximum resistance.

I ordered the gray primer it came with a weird green tent

Tested their grey on a Games Workshop miniature and it thinned beautifully with a little water and then dried to a very nice flat to satin finish. No flaking or any rubbing off after drying. Excellent brush on primer.
